It might be more impressive on a technical level than as a piece of storytelling, but Avatar reaffirms James Cameron's singular gift for imaginative, absorbing filmmaking.

Cameron has returned to tell us that all we need is a slight and earnest story, a few good characters to carry it along, and thrilling visuals to sweep us all away. IAvatarI has it all. Its great to have him back.

Amazing creatures, cool environments, impressive 3-D effects, and awesome action scenes make "Avatar" the must-see movie of the 2009 holiday season. While the story is quite familiar, there's more than enough visual spectacle to make up for it.
