The peaceful people of Terra are forced to engage in war when Earthlings try to seize control of their planet. [Rated PG]

(1 Star/Out of 4) - A "can't-we-all-just-get-along" plea wrapped in futuristic warfare, dirty dishwater animation, and dreary plotting. "Battle for Terra" is crushingly boring, instantly forgettable, and either too slow or too frenetic at any given moment.

The film tells the story of Senn (Justin Long) and Mala (Evan Rachel Wood), two rebellious alien teens living on the beautiful planet Terra, a place that promotes peace and tolerance, having long ago rejected war and weapons of mass destruction.

IBattle for TerraI is a surprise. Youd expect it to be yet another one of those low-budget, computer animated failures, ready to be lumped in with the likes of ISpace ChimpsI and whatever animated movie The Weinstein Company is cursing us all with this year. But it isnt. In fact ITerraI narrowly misses out on becoming something of a minor triumph only because it cant get out of its own way.
