Ben Stiller meets a new group of historical figures when he moves his museum gang to the Smithsonian. [Rated PG]

Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian is busy enough to keep the kids interested but the slapstick goes overboard and the special effects (however well executed) throw the production into mania.

While not necessarily as funny as the first movie, there are enough clever ideas in the historical figures and museum exhibits brought to life that the sequel is able to eventually justify its existence.

(2 Stars/Out of 4) - One could say this is just a movie, and to suspend disbelief, but that doesn't take away from the fact that the script has been written with zero logic in mind. If forced to choose the superior film, "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" would narrowly beat out its predecessor. Amy Adams is so fun to watch that she almost makes up for the dopeyness surrounding her.

Take your kids, enjoy the zooming action and the slightly nerdy reverence for the past, and try not to think about what this delightful concept might have been in the hands of a tighter, more aware director. Its not the worst family friendly movie you can find, and hey, at least it throws in a little history along the way.
