Some of the boys on our annual sojourn to Myrtle Beach
Yup, it is most definitely that time of year. Golf tournaments all over the place. I have a couple this weekend, including one for the Duke of Wellington, and the Grand river cancer center at rebel creek.
That could be a bit misleading. Really, it's not backbreaking. But they are long days. Golf tournaments that is. I'm involved in about 30 this year, many times as the MC and Host. That was the case friday when I took the morning off to play in the Laurelwood Chiropractic Clinic tournament. It raises funds for Spinal Cord research. Sometimes people contact me directly, and other times, there's a different connection. In this case, my friend Pete Musselman from Donovan Insurance, sent his chiropractors my way when they were looking for someone to MC. Speaking in public remains one of the biggest fears most people have, and I'm lucky enought ( and have been around long enough) that it really doesn't bother me anymore. I'm amazed at how much money is raised through charity golf tournaments each year. I probably host more than any other media person in town, but I am by no means handling all of them. Good on those other guys for helping out. July will be the busiest month with more than 10 tournaments. Angie and I will host a couple together, including one in Listowel... The causes range from community sports projects, to testicular cancer. BTW, you can always contact me if you're holding a tournament and would like me to MC it. I guarantee I will make the after golf portion, fun, and interesting, and we will all get out there at a decent time.
