Any bets where I will be starting this morning? If you were on the Steelers, I feel sorry for you. Let's recap for those who might not have seen it, though if you gamble, you have heard the story by now. Pittsburgh laying 4.5 points. They go up 1 with about 15 seconds left. SD gets the ball with 1 play. They throw a short pass and then start lateraling. The second lateral gets dropped and Palomalu picks it up and rumbles into the endzone. Touchdown, unbelievable cover. They review looking for a forward lateral. The ref says penalty for forward pass, the penalty is declined touchdown. Then miraculously, that ruling changes and my understanding now is that a ref called it dead after what he deemed to be a forward pass, no TD, take the points and the cover off the board. Now to be completely honest, I have been reading and I still can't figure out where the forward pass may have been, what rule they are applying or who decided after the ref made the initial review determination why they took the points off the board. Why I am steaming is the arrogance of the league to think that this kind of thing doesn't matter and can be brushed under the rug as a meaningless touchdown. After the game, Scott Green, the referee said a mistake was made and the touchdown should have counted. Small consolace for Pittsburgh bettors. Just another reason why I say that the refereeing in the NFL is some of the worst of any sport. These guys are too old and slow for the speed and size of these players and this game. Jim Nantz, the CBS announcer is a moron and should be fired. If you don't know your audience, get off the air. To say it was a meaningless touchdown anyway is just flat out ignorant. I will bet you 90% of the people still watching that game didn't think it was a meaningless touchdown. Know who is watching you. Have some respect for your viewer. Few games in history have ended with that kind of controversy in relation to the betting number. I will never say fix/conspiracy but there are many who will. My problem is with a league that will not recognize that the reason it is as popular as it is is due to the betting public. This league is a joke. Did you see the unsportsmanlike penalty for excessive celebration in the Tennessee game? I only hope that this league pays the price some day for its arrogance and utter disrespect to its most loyal fans, the bettors. On to other things. We sucked again with our picks......on to other things.... Next time I decide to lay points please intervene. People wonder why I don't bet favourites. It's because I can never get a cover with them. I knew going in that Atlanta with a rookie quarterback is not mature enough as a team to be laying 6.5 points in a game it is deemed it should win. I did it anyway. Didn't turn out so well. Double digit favourites continue to get creamed at the window. Another two fall yesterday with Miami and Carolina both failing to cover. I think that makes the number 2-17 vs the spread for double digit chalks. Can we not just stop the season now and have the Tennesse/Giants Superbowl. These are definately the two best teams in football. I don't think there is anybody else close to them. I realize that anything can happen. But right now, that would make the most intriquing matchup and the one that everyone expects to see. And, just to get back to that intervention thing. If I decide to go against the Titans again, that whole intervention thing I just talked about, it goes for this scenario as well. Really, honestly. How bad do you have to be as a football team to get beat 35-16 by the San Francisco 49'ers? How did this Rams team beat Washington and Dallas on the road? They are horrid. I had almost forgot how bad a head coach Jim Hasslet was. Ahhh, I remember now. Favourites and dogs split 7-7 yesterday. With the dog winning Thursday that makes it 8-7 for the dogs. It was an under day. Unders were 9-3-1. Thursdays over made it 9-4-1. Here is the carnage from the Sunday show. I was 1-4. Won Cincinnati. Lost Atlanta, Jacksonville, Seattle and Washington. Handle was 1-4. Won Tampa Bay. Lost Jax, Atlanta, the Jax moneyline and an Indy/Atl teaser. Jorey was 1-4. Won Tampa. Lost Carolina, Dall/Jax teaser and Indy/Atl teaser. Rob Longley lost with his Baltimore play. The only winner for the day was Dave Malinsky. He went 2-0 winning both Cincinnati and Kansas City. It's Cleveland vs Buffalo tonight. I do not know who I will be on. Sorry if you were looking to fade me. I have no opinion. The line has the Bills -5 and a total of 41. Nobody on the show had it in their best bets. That's it for today. I am still steaming from the Pittsburgh finish. Yes, in case you are wondering I did bet Pittsburgh. I got screwed but Norv Turner lost another game and is that much closer to getting fired. I will take that as very small consolation. I will not be on the show next Sunday. (Very funny. I hear the applause). I will be in Montreal for the Bowmans Big Game Bash. I could get up and go into the Team 990 studios, but the party will go late next Saturday night and I just don't bounce back from late nights like I used to. If you can make it to 1234's next Saturday night for the party, make sure you say hi. Ask at the door for me and they will find me. I look forward to saying hi.
