The Als will be ready for the Stamps, the Habs need help on the blue line and power play and the NFL heats up.

First thing's first. If someone told you that the Als would be in the Grey Cup back in June, you would have punched them in the arm and called them slow. Now that Montreal has made the big game, all I hear about is how they are lucky to be there and are not as good as Calgary. Maybe. Maybe not.

The point is coach Trestman came through and made good things happen. He restored the lustre to this team and city - and made the Als a whole bag of money in the process. Good for Mr. Wetenhall, he deserves to make a little money every now and then.

Will they win? Not sure. It's going to be close. I am hosting the post game show so would rather them win. Otherwise, I will have some angry 990 disciples taking it out on poor ol' me. My prediction: Montreal 33 Calgary 32. The game will be decided by a rouge. Can't get much more Canadian than that.

On to the Habs. A win in St. Louis doesn't cure all ills, but there were some good signs. Sure, they couldn't capitalize on the freakin' 10 power play chances. And yes, they hit a few more posts. But, they only allowed 24 shots, battled back when they were down and won on the road without Komisarek a night after playing at home. It took a Kovalev shootout goal on the final shot to secure the victory. But a win's a win.

The most glaring need that we all saw while watching this game? A top-four defenceman who can move the puck up and help quarterback the power play. Someone please have falling out with a coach and demand a trade. If only it were that simple. Puck-moving D are a rare breed in the NHL and Montreal will be hard pressed to find one. Hmm, is Yannick Weber ready yet? No? Who cares, suit him up. The PP is 0-20 in the last few games. Help!

Now to the NFL. Week 11 was pretty good . We had a QB not know that ties were possible in the NFL (nice job, Donovan. Hey, did you know that if you spike the ball and it bounces really high, you get an extra point too? OY), the Titans and Giants prove once and for all they have earned their records, the Lions continue to give us hope of 0-16 and the Broncos start a guy on defence AND offence in the same game! What a whacky league! Where else can a QB throw for under 100 yards two weeks in a row (Delhomme) and get two wins? Where else can you watch a 1-15 team go 6-4 (Dolphins) the next season? I can't wait to see what the playoffs bring.

In case you're interested, my Game Points program will be hosting a Habs Night viewing at my show's title sponsor downtown location (didn't want to include plug it without checking with the bosses). I am co-hosting the pre and post game shows, so I'll get there when I can. We'll give away some free food, a spot on Game Points for a couple of epidodes, and have some TEAM 990 personalities on hand. If you want to reserve a spot and register to for a chance to be a guest co-host on a couple of shows, email gamepoints@team990.com. Then, show up around 6:30 or so and join in on the game debate, show off your co-hosting abilities. Wow me.

Enjoy the Grey Cup and the Roy retirement ceremony. It's shaping up to be a special weekend in Montreal.
