My picks on record in our fearless predictions segment were more losers than winners.
So, my record yesterday sucked...again. My picks on record in our fearless predictions segment were more losers than winners. I make no excuse for that. But, it is why you listen to other opinions and you meld them with your own and you come up with your own selections. I actually had a profitable day yesterday, cause I listened to others and when they made sense and agreed with my belief on the game, it worked out. You probably don't want to hear it if you followed me, but listen to the overall tone of the show. There were some nuggets in there. Except of course for Jorey...he was brutal. If your reading, sorry Bro. I didn't see it myeslf as I had the game off the screens by halftime, but Randall mentioned to me that Ken Whisenhut may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer (that is a paraphrase..I am trying to be politcally correct). I have since seen the highlights and he is right. Down 21 with 25 seconds to go, Arizona is throwing Hail Mary's into double coverage. Their best receiver Antwan Boldin is lucky to be alive. Is it worth hanging out your best player to lose by 14 instead of 21? I feel sorry for the Handle this week. Mr. Favre threw 6 TD passes. That is not what Randall likes to see. He might not turn on a tv or radio until Friday and even that might not save him from hearing the accolades. It did seem like Eric Mangini was doing his Bill Bellichek impersonation throwing bombs when the game was out of reach to get Favre the stats. One thing always remains constant. The Houston Texans always play the Jacksonville Jaguars tough. No matter how upside down this league gets, you can always depend on that. I am kicking myself for taking the Falcons on the road. They are too young and untested to trust on the road. Wish I could have a mulligan with that one. I don't know what else I can say about the San Diego Chargers. They are just not prepared to play each and every week. They have one of the most talented teams in the league and that talent eventually gives them a great chance of winning but stuff happens to them because they are not well coached. How can you look like you did in the first half against Oakland, being down 15-0 at the break. They came back and even covered the 8 point spread, but how good did you feel about laying those points at halftime? They shouldn't come out that flat. They shouldn't be in the postion to lose a last mintue game to Carolina. They shouldn't be in the positon to lose on a last minute drive to Denver. I don't care what anybody says, any other coach would have this team romping every week. I got alot of raised eyebrows pre season when I suggested that the Washington Redskins would get at least an NFC wildcard team. I didn't feel to go about that statement after week 1. I feel much better about it now. I heard alot of good things about them coming out of the exhibition season. Lot's of positive talk which made me think that these guys liked Jim Zorn. The NFC East is an absolute monster. There will be no time for taking a break. It may hurt these teams come playoff time from a black and blue season, but, it also might make them playoff tough. Will be interesting to see but it will make for some classic divisional games all season long. Nice to see that some things never change. I was a bit worried for about 5 minutes. I actually thought that the Rams may have shown up at home as a big dog. Alas my fears were unfounded. Those rat turd Rams did what the rat turd Rams always, they rolled over and died in the second half. The favourites had a good day and the overs even better. Should have been a good day for the public. Favourites cashed 7 out of 12. The overs were an impressive 9-2-1. As stated, I had another losing week on the show, though gave out more winners than losers in overall opinions. Just didn't put my show money in the right place. That and a $1.50 ($3.75 at Starbucks) will get me a cup of coffee. For the record, I won on Houston. Lost with Arizona, Atlanta and Minnesota. The Handle was 3 and 3. His winners were Houston, San Diego and Washington. His losers, Green Bay, Minnesota and San Francisco. Jorey was hideous. I will say them quickly like he does...they were all losers. Frisco, Pack, Vikes, Cards, Rams and Eagle under....ouch. Dave Malinsky fared better. He won the Cleveland under and his Cleveland/San Diego teaser. He lost the Eagle total but to his defence, the second half played alot more like the game should have. It was one of those first halves when things just started rolling back and forth and points went up early. Hope you got some second half under 20 1/2. They were at 35 at the half of a game with a 39 total. These things tend to swing in the favour of the oddmakers original number. If you assume that halftime is just an arbitray break, you could say that with a 20 1/2 as the 2nd half total the total for the game was like 55 1/2. How much would you bet under 55.5 in that game. That is why second half wagering can be some of your most profitable. The Monday night contest has Baltimore in Pittsbugh. The Steelers are 5 with a total of 34. No real opinion from me. The Handle like Pittsburgh. My lean on the show was Baltimore, but after seeing Matt Ryan in hostile territory today I wonder how Joe Flacco will perform on a Monday night in Pittsburgh. I may be on the Steelers by game time but definately don't love it. Time to start studying. Week 5 is only 6 days away.Community Blog near Los Angeles, CA
