A fire damaged one room of a church in South Los Angeles area Monday, but no one was hurt, authorities said. Firefighters sent to the 3200 block of W. 54th Street, near Crenshaw Boulevard, at 11:38 a.m. doused the flames in about 20 minutes, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
