In the midst of preparing for finals, students and staff at East Los Angeles College were forced to evacuate after a reported gas leak at the Monterey-based campus Thursday morning. The southeast area of campus, at 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez in Monterey Park, was evacuated after an underground gas line ruptured during the course of construction, Cadet Scott Sanchez said.
