A three-week federal crackdown on criminal aliens, immigration fugitives and immigration violators resulted in 420 arrests in the Southland, authorities said Monday. The enforcement "surge," which ended Saturday, netted 1,157 arrests statewide and was the largest such operation ever carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Fugitive Operations Teams in California, ICE reported.
