The good news is that Pixar has just released its latest offering, Wall-e. The Bad news is not to expect too much from this one. Although Wall-e took its opening weekend at the box office (probably due to its merits from previous films), the Imagineers at Pixar forgot something vital in this pic; a GOOD STORY!
Pixar, the pioneers at the forefront of visual imaging, that brought you such instant classics as Toy Story 1 & 2, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and most recently Cars & Ratatouille, have seemed to take their eyes off of the ball. Perhaps the ongoing contentious fueds and squabbling with its distribution partner, Disney, has taken its toll. Their last 2 efforts, Ratatouille and most recently, Wall-e, didn't have the polish and endearing qualities that we've become accustomed to getting from Pixar.
Being one of Pixar's greatest fans, I painfully sat through the first 30 dialouge-free minutes of this film asking myself, "Is this going to get better"? The story starts to gains some momentum and has its cute parts, but for the most part, its not one of their best. The graphics and animation are still TOP-NOTCH. Let's hope the tenatively-scheduled "Toy Story 3", scheduled for release in the summer of 2009, can restore Pixar to its well-deserved place atop the heap of animation studios in this increasingly-competetive genre.

Too bad. It looked like it would have been interesting.
