CKWW has been a favourite station of mine for years. Embarassingly, our government has allowed a mess called IBOC (In Band, On Carrier) otherwise known as HD radio (HD stands for Hybrid Digital). It creates a lot of noise and makes stations difficult to listen to.

I am grateful that the Canadian government has not fallen for the push by Ibiquity, and that we are close enough to Canada to enjoy it. Some Canadian AM stations are still broadcasting in stereo.

I beg of anyone who reads these words, listen...AM radio can sound great! If you hear interference on our AM 580 CKWW caused by the IBOC hash on AM 560 WRDT...please complain! If I complain from the US...it's not taken as seriously - they seem to feel why should I be listening to Canadian stations when we have American stations.

I'll tell you why - AMERICAN AM RADIO STINKS!
